Mask I (Broken Thoughts)
Terracotta, 25x15x15cm 2025
Nothing Left to Lose: A self-portrait conceived to be destroyed, this work embodies the artist’s most radical gesture: denying and annihilating his own image as an act of rupture with the self that imprisoned him. The violence of the process is inseparable from the piece: no intact object remains, only the memory of the gesture. It is a work that speaks of catharsis and sacrifice.
Mask I: A surviving fragment of Nothing Left to Lose, turned into a relic of that destruction. The mask preserves cracks, fissures, and wounds as traces of a process of mourning and resistance. In its material precariousness lies its symbolic strength: what remains standing after fire and impact. A metaphor of continuity amid collapse.
