The work confronts youth and old age as faces of the same existence. The artist portrays himself alongside his grandfather, creating a dialogue between a legacy already built and a life still in formation. The bifront evokes Janus, Roman god of beginnings and endings, and connects with pre-Columbian traditions—Valdivia, Jama-Coaque, La Tolita—where the double face also appears as a symbol of transition. In this sculpture, marble embodies the eternal, clay the unfinished, and skin the living. The base, inscribed with ancestral solar signs, links the intimate with the collective, personal memory with cultural heritage.
