The Weight of Staying, 2026
74×67×53cm
Work in Progress
The Weight of Staying explores a state of internal tension in which the body becomes a site of resistance. The figure grips tightly to its base, refusing to let go, its posture compressed and weighted, suspended between tension and release. The gesture suggests both physical strain and emotional attachment, where staying becomes an active, almost visceral act.
Rooted in personal experience, the work reflects moments in which change feels necessary yet unresolved. Through its intensity and material presence, the sculpture engages themes of resistance, uncertainty, and the difficulty of letting go, inhabiting a space where the body holds what cannot yet be released.
